Attraction, wooing, flirting and courting were not easy tasks for our Victorian ancestors.
A gentleman didn’t simply walk through a crowded ballroom and tell a girl he fancied the bloomers off her, and ladies there was no way for you to instruct a future lover to slip into your DMs! NO INDEED! Flirtation and romance were subtle art forms not to be tainted or confused with your modern-day screen swiping! Reputation, society and of course a young lady’s virtue were of paramount importance. Different, more subtle methods of communication were deployed between lovers.
Join Mildred Freeman for an evening of tasty gin, the language of flowers, fan flirtation for beginners, 19th Century flirting tips and a bit of a sing-song.
